Solomon Schechter Day School

The Arts

Mr. Barberio (referred to as MR B by students) has a deep background in arts education, bringing to Schechter a 30-year career in the arts.  He brings his leadership and knowledge of how the arts develop creativity and problem solving skills in children.

The school currently has a visual art instructor, who teaches in the JCC’s fully equipped art room.  Students in art class at least one hour per week and are exposed to drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture, among other things.

The school is proud to have one of the area’s finest music teachers, who works with our students at least one hour per week.  The music curriculum cultivates a lifelong love of music through the exploration of voice, instruments and movement.  Schechter students perform at annual school events and at events in the community.

Schechter does not currently have a dance or theatre program, but with MR B’s leadership, we expect to expand our students’ Jewish identity through performance.
